#SleepingWhileBlack: Rapper, Willie Bo, Shot and Killed By Police As He Slept In His Car

Aspiring rapper Willie Bo also known as Willie McCoy was fatally shot over the weekend by police at a Taco Bell in Vallejo, California after falling asleep in his car and his family are calling it a “senseless” crime.

According to The Guardian, reports state six Vallejo police officers shot Willie Bo on Saturday night while he was sitting in a parked silver Mercedes. He had stopped at the Taco Bell drive thru restaurant to grab some food after his performance with the group FBG that night.

Vallejo police said they had received a 911 call from an employee that reported a man was slumped over in his seat. Officers reportedly arrived on the scene to find McCoy and claimed they “noticed the driver was unresponsive and had a handgun on his lap.” The statement from the police department continues to read that when officers approached McCoy’s vehicle, the following occurred:

“The driver began to suddenly move and looked at the uniformed patrol officers. Officers gave the driver several commands to put his hands up, the driver did not comply and instead he quickly moved his hands downward for the firearm. Fearing for their safety, six officers fired their duty weapons at the driver.” the statement added.

According to VPD a loaded handgun was recovered in McCoy’s vehicle and has been reported. The 21-year-old rapper was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear as to how many shots hit McCoy but it has been reported that all six officers did open fire. McCoy’s family blasted police over the incident including brother Marc McCoy and cousin David Harrison. They are not standing by quietly and are demanding justice! They believe he was racially profiled and the response of the officers was unjustified and are calling for the officers to face criminal prosecution for the shooting.
