The footage from Sandra Bland’s cell phone has been released and it has many people in an outrage.
After nearly 4 years, WFAA has been fighting for Waller County Police to release the cell phone footage of Sandra’s arrest. Sandra was pulled over by an officer for failure to use her turn signal when she changed lanes. She was arrested and later found dead in her cell, from what investigators called an apparent suicide. Sandra’s family did not believe that she had taken her own life, and this new video footage may help prove that.
In the quick video, you can see the officer point his taser at Sandra’s face and tell her “I will light you up.” He then drags her out of her car and demands that she gets off the phone. Sandra made a remark in the video saying that she will take the officer to court, which led many to believe that she wouldn’t kill herself.
Sandra’s family is calling for her case to be reopened. This footage should’ve been released awhile ago. It just continues to show how police abuse their power and how they protect each other by trying to cover up killing innocent people.
