It is impossible to summarize all B.B. King has done for music into one piece. What is possible is to pay homage to the man for the doors he opened simply to do what many now do. No, B.B. King wasn’t hip hop, officially, but if not for his efforts, there’d be no freedom for hip hop.

All across the spectrum, there were many doors knocked down by the older generation for the young guys to make way. This is something older cats try kicking to the young ones all day. Ultimately, they don’t understand, because those who went through that struggle know.

B.B. King has battled with diabetes for close to two decades and has become a face for living with diabetes, starring in plenty of commercials for it. His career has included so much, including a stint on “General Hospital,” with their iconic character, Luke Spencer, bragging of how he and B.B. King are on a first name basis. But, last night in Las Vegas, B.B. King ended his earthly journey in Las Vegas at 89 years old.
