Soulja Boy’s album is projected to sell 500 copies in its first week

Soulja Boy was once a juggernaut in the game and appeared to have staying power. At one point, Soulja caught the attention of 50 Cent. During that time, it looked like 50 was going to mentor him. Ultimately, Soulja Boy decided to take his career into his own hands. As a result, he left Interscope Records, and became an independent artist. Now he is promoting his new album, which is reported to be on pace to only sell 500 overall copies during the first week.

Soulja Boy had the game on lock when he debuted, during the summer of 2007. While he was not the first rapper to drop mixtapes, he was the first to get paid for it. In just one summer, Soulja Boy made his first million from dropping music on iTunes. When “Crank Dat” became a hit single, Soulja Boy sold the single on iTunes. As a result, he became a millionaire. In addition, he caught the attention of the major labels, signing with Mr. Collipark, who had a deal with Interscope.

Soulja Boy continued to have success, returning to the internet with his music. Since 2016, he has had more viral success from his interviews and social media posts. During the summer of 2021, Soulja Boy revealed how much money that was making him. Recently, Soulja Boy returned to music with a new album. He called Lil Durk and NBA Youngboy out for dropping their albums on the same day as him. With the official reports in, Soulja is not anyone’s competition, at 500 copies sold in the first week.
