From the beginning, this Soulja Boy/Chris Brown thing has been weird for many reasons. With both artists being self-made, coming from virtually nothing to make vast fortunes from music. Especially in the case of Soulja Boy, he has a keen business mind.
However, for whatever reason, both Soulja Boy and Chris Brown got caught up after moving to Los Angeles. Both artists, once representing relatively clean guy images, have embraced the gang lifestyle. This is the undertone in their high-profile beef.
Soulja Boy recently did an interview with Jason Lee for his Hollywood Unlocked, where he discussed this. During the interview, Soulja Boy spoke on how he and Chris Brown are from the same hood and represent the same gang. His statement even saw Floyd make an opposing comment, but Soulja Boy continued talking, living up to the #SouljaBoyChallenge.
