Mourad’s ordeal began with severe back pain, leading to the discovery of kidney stones. Mourad attributes that to the high salt content in these noodles.

Urologist Dr. David Shusterman warns that Buldak ramen, like many processed foods, is high in salt. As a result, it can promote the formation of crystals in the kidneys. These crystals can evolve into stones, causing significant organ damage and infections. It can potentially leading to septicemia if untreated. This ramen contains about half of the recommended daily salt intake per serving. So, it poses a considerable health risk with regular consumption.

The popularity of such products is not waning, with manufacturer Samyang Foods reporting record sales. However, the health implications are significant, particularly because some spices used in these noodles, like turmeric, may increase the risk by elevating oxalate levels in the urine.
