Greatly advancing the black film culture, Spike Lee has created too many classics to count. During the 1990s, Spike Lee definitely helped mold the culture. Just like many other popular statements and trends of the 1990s, the Spike Lee phase went through tougher times in the 2000s.

While people trended away from “Spike Lee joints,” they embraced movies from Tyler Perry. Admitting he was a fan of Tyler Perry’s work, Spike Lee admitted he was disappointed in how his films played out. The silliness of some of his films left Spike Lee disappointed.

Recent years have seen Spike Lee return to the forefront, as he is working on new films. Wikileaks continues to show private business matters from all of the biggest names in the industry. Some of his private emails have revealed he is working on School Daze Too, a sequel to his 1988 movie, and Drake and Kevin Hart are said to be the stars of it.
