On February 24, Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna will have their funeral take place at the STAPLES Center. Kobe played here during his career with the Los Angeles Lakers as he was with the team for all 20 of his NBA seasons. Tonight, the Oscars are taking place a the Dolby Theatre to celebrate the success of the film industry.
Spike Lee was just on the red carpet and was seen wearing a purple and gold suit in honor of Kobe. A No. 24 was displayed on the front and the back of the outfit. He also sported a purple and black hat along with a pair of orange and black Kobe Nike sneakers.
This was a very nice tribute by Spike to an LA legend. Kobe is still regarded as one of the best basketball players ever as he won five NBA titles, an MVP award, was a 2x NBA Finals MVP, 18x NBA All-Star, 11x NBA All-First Team, 9x All-NBA Defensive Team, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist, and more. He also won an Oscar in 2018 for Best Animated Short Film for “Dear Basketball.” He is the second icon that LA has lost within the past year as last March, Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed.
