There’s always a million reminders that smoking isn’t allowed on any flight. This rule wasn’t followed at all by a Spirit Airlines passenger who was flying from Detroit to New Orleans. It was on Flight NK 985 where a 30-year-old man was using an e-cigarette, according to CNN.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde said a flight attendant told a deputy that the man was vaping into a bag. He then went into the bathroom and that’s when the smoke alarm went off as he continued to smoke. When the man was escorted off, he denied smoking in the bathroom and even said he didn’t know that smoking was prohibited.
He didn’t end up arrested but Spirit Airlines has now banned him from flying with them again. He was also busted for apparently drinking on the flight. While alcoholic beverages are usually served by the airline, another passenger said that they had seen the man drinking while under his jacket. Other airlines should keep a good eye on this man from this point on.
