Spotify surpasses 60 million paid subscribers and is preparing for an IPO

It’s funny how, when it comes to the streaming, all of the talk is about either Apple Music or Tidal, Jay-Z’s service. But, Spotify is killing both of them, easily, along with Pandora. Initially, Apple Music came and immediately surpassed Tidal’s subscriber base.

Two years later, Apple Music sits at 30 million subscribers and exclusives from all the big names. Dr. Dre, DJ Khaled, Drake, and Pharrell are among the artists with shows on their platform. Famed journalist, Zane Lowe, also has a show.

Spotify, meanwhile, has no exclusives, but has seniority and more brand awareness. Along with this, Spotify has all of the music from every artist not named Taylor Swift. All of that has propelled them to 60 million paid subscribers and it looks like they’ll be preparing for an IPO.
