The best-kept secret on New York City’s rap scene is out. During the summer of 2020, a Staten Island rapper, named CJ, dropped the drill anthem, “Whoopty,” to much success. It wasn’t long before he got co-signs from the likes of Busta Rhymes and Cardi B, among others.
CJ also caught the attention of French Montana, who would eventually partner with him. Now, the two have even bigger business going on, together. After setting the streets on fire, for months, CJ caught the attention of the major labels.
This afternoon, Warner Records announced CJ is the newest addition to the label. With his deal in place, CJ is set to begin releasing several new singles, before his debut EP arrives. That project will see French Montana serve as executive producer.
