“Straight Outta Compton” is the highest-grossing movie ever by a black director #StraightOuttaCompton

During the summer, Straight Outta Compton made its debut and became a very successful film. But, just how successful this film is continues to drive headlines. Telling the story of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and the rest of NWA, the movie shows their journey.

Because of the emphasis on Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, many people thought the film told its story unfairly. Jerry Heller especially took offense to the film and he is suing for everything. It remains to be seen what will happen with Heller, but the movie continues to succeed.

Straight Outta Compton continues to defy the odds, as it has now grossed over $200 million. During the first week, the film managed to gross $60 million. The first sale mentioned, the current gross, has made Straight Outta Compton make history as the highest grossing black movie, as F. Gary Gray is the director of the movie.
