Dominique Fishback of “Swarm” initially offered Marissa role
“Swarm” is one of Donald Glover’s new TV series, the first season was made available on March 17, on Amazon Prime Video. This series details the life of Andrea “Dre” Green, who’s a super fan of the singer, Ni’Jah, in the show. As a result, Dre plots on anyone who bashes Ni’Jah on social media.
The role of Dre is played by actress Dominique Fishback, who is already receiving her flowers on social media. In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, she also went on to reveal that she was initially offered the role of Marissa, by Donald Glover. That ended up being played by Chloe Bailey, who was also Dre’s sister, in Swarm.
“When I was younger, I watched Monster with Charlize Theron… And I watched Heath Ledger do the Joker and you see all of these people get to really tap into different characters. I was like, ‘Man, I want to get the opportunity to really just stretch myself as an actor and explore the human psyche in ways that I would never do.’ … And, I feel like I got that freedom to do so at Dre’s expense. She’s so angry.”
However, Chloe’s role as Marissa was short-lived, as Marissa committed suicide. That was as a result of an argument with her boyfriend, as that role was played by Damson Idris. Chloe also trended heavily this weekend, due to Marissa’s sex scene, in episode 1.
