There is a legacy behind Swizz Beatz few figures in hip hop hold. Swizz Beatz hails from a family who has a strong hip hop background. His uncles were the founders of Ruff Ryders, at the time a management firm. In the 1990s, Swizz Beatz took over the company, picked up DMX, and turned the company into a record label, establishing a deal with Interscope Records.

Swizz Beatz soon turned Ruff Ryders into one of the biggest labels in hip hop. Competing directly against Bad Boy Records, Roc-A-Fella Records, and Murder Inc., Swizz Beatz did nothing but drop hits. Ruff Ryders was home to one of the biggest stars, among them Eve, Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch (for The L.O.X.), Drag-On, and many more.

In recent years, Swizz Beatz has been married twice, to Mashonda and Alicia Keys, has a new label, Full Surface, and has worked with Cassidy and DMX. However, Lil Wayne has been the dominant emcee. Many of his hits have been produced by Bangladesh, who has risen to prominence while Swizz Beatz has been focused on his family.

Bangladesh recently called Swizz Beatz irrelevant and Swizzy offered his first full response on ThisIs50.com.
