Five years ago, TDE was on top of the world, with Kendrick Lamar taking over the rap world. As they settled into their partnership with Interscope Records, TDE added new artists. Popular singer-songwriter, and St. Louis native, SZA, was signed to the label.
SZA has been a bubbling under artist, for the past few years. But, she claimed the spotlight in her own right with “Love Galore,” her breakout summer hit, featuring Travis Scott. After this, CTRL dropped, and fans gravitated to “The Weekend,” which was never a single.
Now, “The Weekend” has gone onto enjoy the same fate as SZA’s actual single. The record has gone platinum, and on SZA’s birthday, to add to it. This afternoon, SZA announced this over Twitter.
