SZA has been one of the biggest R&B stars, ever since her breakout 2017. The TDE artist also stands out heavily with her type of singing style. Many fans believe she’s hard to understand at times, regarding understanding, what the lyrics say, but SZA is still viewed as a great overall artist.
On Twitter, on early Monday morning, SZA took to the platform to address people who speak on how she sings. She revealed that people tell her to “annunciate” her lyrics, but they have no problem understanding how Little Richard sung.
“I jus wanna know why lil Richard said “wapbabaloobop balapbam boom tootie fruity on rootie” and nobody complained but I gotta “‘ANNUNCIATE.'”
SZA has clearly caught on to the constructive criticism. In the end though, she is definitely still very respected.
This all comes as she’s been seeing massive success, with her “I Hate U” single, over the past month. This record was initially released on Soundcloud, but high demand got SZA to put it on streaming platforms as a single, and it went on to debut at number six, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This is also SZA’s highest-charting solo single.
