SZA says her new album is “ready to go”
Monday night featured the annual Met Gala, in New York City. Many celebrities showcased their anticipated outfits, as fans online gave their honest opinions. One who many believed looked very nice, was SZA.
At the Met Gala, SZA was also interviewed by Lala Anthony. SZA was asked about her upcoming sophomore album, which has been waited on by fans, for over four years now. SZA says that this project is “ready to go,” and that fans will experience a “SZA summer.”
It’s been a very long time, since SZA last released a project. This was her 2017 debut studio album, “Ctrl.” At the time, Ctrl debuted at number three, on the Billboard 200 chart. It was led by hits such as “The Weekend,” “Drew Barrymore,” “Love Galore,” featuring Travis Scott, and “Broken Clocks.” SZA also collaborated with Kendrick Lamar, Isaiah Rashad, and James Fountelroy. Ctrl is also 2x platinum in the US.
In the meantime, SZA has seen massive success with multiple singles, over the past year and a half. On Christmas Day 2020, SZA released “Good Days,” which saw a number nine debut on the Billboard Hot 100, and is 3x platinum. In December 2021, SZA released “I Hate U,” which also saw a number seven debut, and is certified gold. 2021 also saw SZA be featured one of the biggest records of the year, in Doja’s “Kiss Me More” single. It peaked at number three on the Hot 100, and was nominated for three Grammys, this year.
