Rick Ross did, in 2011, what Lil Wayne did in 2009, which was a signing spree. Both rappers had imprint labels that virtually laid dormant. There were artists signed to the label that appeared on albums and in videos, but had no role. Sensing this, both emcees searched for some of the hottest talent and added them to their roster.

Meek Mill signed with Maybach Music in 2011, which placed him on the roster of the newly-hip hop-oriented Warner Bros. Records. Even without an album, Meek Mill became one of the biggest artists in the game. During his media runs, Meek Mill revealed he initially signed to T.I.’s Grand Hustle Records.
