Takeoff shooting suspect Patrick Xavier Clark may claim self-defense in court

Patrick Xavier Clark may claim self-defense for Takeoff shooting

Earlier this month, Houston police finally made an arrest, in connection to the shooting death of Takeoff. 33-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark was taken into custody, as his bond was set at $2 million, which could be reduced to $1 million, if additional security requirements could be met. At the time, authorities also stated that Clark purchased an expedited passport, in an attempt to flee to Mexico.

Clark was also granted $5,000 by a judge in court, last week. This was due to him not being able to afford a private investigator. This is all while maintaining the stance of being innocent, and could claim self-defense.

However, Clark may be heading in that direction of testifying in court, that he had to act in self-defense, according to the Associated Press. One of his attorneys states that Clark fired shots, after someone else did so first, at him. This was outside of 810 Billiards & Bowling where Takeoff ended up being shot, after an argument between Quavo and a group of men, after a dice game. 30 people were in attendance, as a private event was ending.

“We feel comfortable that when the time is right that Mr. Clark will have a valid and meritorious claim for self-defense,” said Letitia Quinones, one of Clark’s attorneys.

As a result, Clark is also now being viewed as a flight risk, as he wants his bail reduced to $300,000, and then soon, to $100k. Therefore, Judge Josh Hill is hesitant, as he said “Google searches for fake tickets cause me a great deal of concern.” This comes after a Wednesday hearing.
