Hip hop showed why it has become the most-popular genre in music and also an addictive lifestyle at SXSW 2013. Every March since 1987, filmmakers from around the world have invaded Austin, Texas to showcase their talents. The SXSW festival is well-known and credited for making Twitter popular.

Over the past few years, SXSW has been invaded by hip hop. After hip hop took over last year’s SXSW, a more organized movement went to Texas this year. The hip hop media also was on deck for SXSW 2013. Sway Calloway, a personality for MTV and popular radio station, Shade 45, was in town.

Talib Kweli also went to Texas and while he was at SXSW 2013, he talked to Sway for his Shade 45 show, “Sway in the Morning.” During his interview, Talib Kweli talked about the fight between Joe Budden and fellow Queens rapper, Consequence. With the conversation on reality television, Talib Kweli also talked about it in-depth and his Prisoner of Consciousness album.
