Talib Kweli talks Kendrick Lamar, MTV’s “Hottest MCs in the Game,” and more with Hardknock TV [VIDEO]

A leader in conscious hip hop is Talib Kweli, who has been doing his thing since Saigon and Lupe Fiasco were children. Though he does not release albums yearly, Talib Kweli is very consistent with his music. Now a twenty-year veteran, Talib Kweli is preparing his upcoming album, A Prisoner of Consciousness.

Lyrics have had a strong return to hip hop and everyone is singing the praises of the resurgent West Coast hip hop. Specifically, Kendrick Lamar is the artist being praised, racking up co-signs from the rap game. Talib Kweli can be added to the number of veterans impressed by K. Dot.

While Talib Kweli was in Texas for SXSW 2013, he talked to Hardknock TV. Several topics came up during their interview. Highlights from the conversation include Kendrick Lamar and MTV’s controversial series, “Hottest MCs in the Game.” Despite all the music coming from many other rappers, they failed to make the list.
