Nearly twenty years ago, there were warnings about children playing video games, and getting too caught up in them. Back then, social media was in its infancy. At the time, nearly no one saw social media being more addictive than video games. But this is now the reality. Recently, a teenager went viral for going into a trance on TikTok. As his mother tried to intervene, this young man sacrificed his dignity in order to win some points.
What the social networks have done has actually changed the lives of some people. Content creators have joined these platforms and have been able to make enough money to live off of. As a result, there are an increasing number of people who are trying to produce the same kinds of numbers. This means that people are doing things that are increasingly degrading in order to reach those viral numbers. However, not every person is going to succeed.
One teenager ended up getting the attention he was seeking. But the cost of what he did was not worth it, even if he thinks it is. In order to win points on TikTok, the boy was doing all kinds of wild things. This must’ve been going on for some time. Regardless, the boy’s mother was in his room trying to get him to stop. She even had his father on the phone, as she discouraged people from giving him points. The mother said he doesn’t have to do this as he and his parents all have jobs.
