Teen mom arrested for stomping baby’s head to get ex’s attention

An 18-year-old mother from Florida was arrested last week. Allegedly, she sent photos of herself stomping on her 10-month-old baby’s head. This was to get the attention of the child’s father. Alicia Brea was taken into custody on Thursday evening. As a result, she was charged with one count of child cruelty.

On May 9, 2024, deputies from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in Hollywood, Florida. It was regarding a potential child abuse case. The caller reported that her friend, Brea, had sent her pictures of herself stomping on her infant’s head.

Hollywood was the scene where first responders made contact with Brea. The city is located about 20 miles north of Miami. According to the affidavit, Brea admitted she was upset with her baby’s father. As a result, she sent him the distressing photos. Allegedly, it was to see if he would come back to her. The two had a breakup earlier that day.

Also, Brea claimed she sent additional photos to the baby’s father showing their child unharmed. Thus, insisting she “would never hurt the baby.” Investigators did not find any visible injuries on the baby. Brea signed a consent form allowing deputies to search her phone. That’s where they found the disturbing image. Child Protective Services was contacted. As a result, Brea was arrested and taken to the Broward County Jail.

Brea was released on a $20,000 bond under the condition that she be fitted with a GPS monitoring device. So, a judge has prohibited her from having any contact with her child. In addition, mandated a mental health examination within 10 days.
