Before he was “King,” Bobby Brown lived a hard life. That explains why he has gone through so much, despite his levels of fortune and fame. A year ago, “The New Edition Story” showed what Bobby and his friends sacrificed to gain fame.

Their childhood scenes were all about them, so it didn’t dig too deep into what the boys did, alone. Tonight, “The Bobby Brown Story” has debuted just to dive into that particular topic. Early in Bobby’s life, he and his friend, Jimmy, decided to play basketball.

While Bobby and Jimmy were playing basketball, some bigger kids tried to take Bobby’s bike. Jimmy stepped in and tried to fight them, Bobby jumped in and his knife fell out, and into the bigger kid’s hand, who used it to intimidate Jimmy, but their friend didn’t see the knife, accidentally kicking the bully into Jimmy. He died in his mom’s (portrayed by Tatyana Ali) hands, and Twitter has a lot to say.
