Since its premiere, Showtime’s “The Chi” has consistently been one of premium cable’s top shows. Storyline wise, it has a lot of good things going. However, behind the scenes, the Jason Mitchell misconduct accusations have caused tons of problems.
Lena Waithe, the creator of the series, was hesitant to speak about those accusations, initially. However, “The Chi” is making some moves to be more in-step with the current culture. Season three will see these changes begin.
“The Chi” is reportedly planning to add a transgender character, according to casting reports. Producers are seeking a transgender female actress of either African-American, or Latin descent. This is yet another progressive move from “The Chi,” which is created by Lena Waithe, who is openly lesbian.
