The Geto Boys launch Kickstarter campaign for new album, “Habeas Corpus”

During the early 1990s, a lot of focus was being dedicated to the Los Angeles hip hop scene and the rest of the West Coast. Back then, many were saying New York City had fallen off. But, this was the first taste of hip hop diversity, as Houston was emerging on the scene.

The Geto Boys were the men who put Houston on the map. Later, Scarface would go solo and have over twenty years of success. Meanwhile, the group ended up going on an unofficial hiatus, with their most-recent album coming in 2005.

A decade later, The Geto Boys have made plans to return. Following the formula of De La Soul, The Geto Boys have taken to Kickstarter to launch their album. So far, they have raised a little over $400 for their new album.
