Before Queen Latifah dominated the big screen, her voice and empowering lyrics dominated hip-hop. At only 19 years old, her debut album All Hail The Queen was a force in rap music. That album included one of her most iconic singles “Ladies First”. Continuing to push her message of woman empowerment, her third album featured the single “U.N.I.T.Y.”. Debuting atop the charts, Queen Latifah won her first Grammy for the single. Shifting her fame to film and television, she quickly became a powerhouse throughout Hollywood.

Her role in the hit sitcom Living Single, lead her to her first major role in the film Set It Off. She then starred in multiple films including Chicago, Bringing Down The House, Taxi, Barbershop 2: Back In Business, Beauty Shop and Girls Trip. Further adding to her impressive career, her contributions in music and film are well deserved of the Kennedy Center Honor.
