Just when things began to look good for North Carolina, on a national radar, politics came in and mucked it all up. Particularly in the case of sports, North Carolina was trending up. The Panthers made NFL history, as Cam Newton came into his own, making the Super Bowl.
As expected by North Carolina fans, the Panthers would lose the game, despite being heavy favorites. Meanwhile, the Charlotte Bobcats finally stopped losing and regained the Hornets’ name and history. This past season, they exceeded, but lost key players in free agency.
Adding insult to injury, after a strong bid by Michael Jordan, the rebranded Hornets landed the All-Star Game for 2017. In one swoop, Pat McCrory erased all of this with the HB2 law, which he refuses to backdown from, despite being in a close re-election bid. But, the Hornets have now officially lost the festivities, possibly to New Orleans (ironic much?) and Twitter is going in on North Carolina’s governor, while Michael Jordan accepts Adam Silver’s decision.
