The Notorious B.I.G. tributed by new billboard in High Line Park in New York City
Brooklyn has produced hip hop’s all-time greats. While Brooklyn is not the birthplace of hip hop, it is one of the leading forces in the overall genre. Several legends have originally come from Brooklyn. The Notorious B.I.G. is widely-regarded as the biggest artist to come out of the borough.
Artist Raymond Pettibon recently tributed The Notorious B.I.G. on his new mural that appears on a billboard in High Line Park in New York City. Originally, this image appeared on his 2010 drawing, “No Title (Safe he called…).” On the left side of the image, the Brooklyn Dodgers are referenced with the Jackie Robinson mural.
On the right side, there is a quote that says “Where Brooklyn At?,” which is a direct tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. Trademark thick lines and handwritten touches are included on the mural. There is a reference to the owner of the Dodgers, also, as he relocated the team to California.
