The Notorious B.I.G. would have turned 50 years old today. Tragically, The Notorious B.I.G. was murdered on the morning of March 9, 1997, in Los Angeles. As of May 2022, his murder remains unsolved. However, The Notorious B.I.G. had a major impact during his short 24 years on Earth. In light of this, Biggie is being celebrated.

The Notorious B.I.G. is widely regarded as one of the best rappers ever. Really, that is saying a lot, seeing how Biggie was only able to release two albums. Life After Death was The Notorious B.I.G.’s sophomore album. The album was released only weeks after Notorious’ death. As a result, The Notorious B.I.G. had the highest selling rap album of all time.

The Notorious B.I.G has been honored by New York City, increasingly, over the past decade. Definitely, if Biggie was alive, he would be proud to see how far Brooklyn has come. On top of everything else, Brooklyn has its own NBA franchise. During the Brooklyn Nets’ first season, The Notorious B.I.G. was honored, as his jersey was retired. In celebration of The Notorious B.I.G.’s 50th birthday, the Empire State Building lit up in red and white. Additionally, The Notorious B.I.G. was honored with Brooklyn Metro Cards. Living life after death, B.I.G. had fans waiting four hours on these cards.
