The Weeknd breaks Spotify record for most monthly listeners
Over the past decade, The Weeknd has established himself as one of the most dominant artists in the world. In the last two years, that has been very evident, with massive success of projects such as “After Hours” and “Dawn FM.” Dawn FM was released a little over a year ago, and saw a number two debut in the US.
However, Weeknd continues to break various streaming records. According to Chart Data, he has now broken the all-time record for most monthly listeners among all artists, in Spotify history. This was done with 94.734 million total listeners. Prior to 2022 concluding, Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” single also became the most streamed song, in Spotify history.
This summer, Weeknd will also be venturing on the second leg of his “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour. As a result, these will take place in Europe and Latin America, with the first show taking place in Manchester, UK, on June 10. This will last through October 15, with the final show being held in Sanitago, Chile. However, last fall, Weeknd had to end his Los Angeles concert early, due to issues with his voice, but has since recovered.
