The Weeknd has arguably been the biggest artist in the world over the past year. He is fresh off a phenomenal performance at halftime of Super Bowl LV last month and had one of the best albums of the year in “After Hours” last spring. This project included the chart-topping 2019 single, “Blinding Lights.”

Blinding Lights continues to receive platinum and diamond plaques all over the world and now, this continues to be the case in his home country of Canada. According to Chart Data, this record is now diamond status there. The music video for Blinding Lights is also at almost 392 million views on YouTube.

Blinding Lights is also at 6x platinum status in the US and originally debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This single has set plenty of records lately such as being the fastest song to reach 1 billion Spotify streams and is currently the longest-running top 10 hit on the Hot 100 chart at 51 weeks.

Surprisingly, The Weeknd wasn’t nominated for any GRAMMYs this month. This is all with Blinding Lights going No. 1, the “Heartless” single hitting the top of the charts, as well as After Hours doing so on the Billboard 200 chart. He originally called the awards show “corrupt” and that he and his fans deserve transparency.
