Timbaland Apologizes to Jay-Z for Album Leak

Ever since details on The Blueprint 3 first emerged last summer, things have not seemed quite right about Timbaland’s dealings. First, a track entitled “Ain’t I?” leaked in January of last year.

From then, on that song was rumored to be the first single of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, which was to be released in March. Members of the Roc-A-Fella camp and in Timbaland’s camp came out calling the song nothing more than a leak and that while an album is in the works from Jay-Z, no title has been chosen.

During the summer of 2008, Timbaland conducted an interview in which he made a bold statement. He said that he was working with Jay-Z on a new album, entitled The Blueprint 3, that he was producing entirely on his own.

That was when Jay-Z spoke out, saying that Timbaland was producing some of, but not all of his album, which will be entitled The Blueprint 3. It was then revealed that most of the album was being handled by Kanye West.

When the summer of 2009 came around, it became clear what direction that the album was headed. Throughout the entire promotion for the album, Timbaland was accused of making sub-par beats, leaving the best for him and his artists.

Then, add to that the fact that the tracks that Timbaland were producing for the album were leaked. Timbo stated that he did not know why they were leaking, but Memphis Bleek accused Timbaland of leaking them on purpose. Things could have easily escalated into a full-blown feud between Jay-Z and Timbaland, but Timbo chose to avoid controversy and apologize.

All is well and the two can go back to the days of “Big Pimpin’.”
