This past weekend, Tinashe performed at one of iHeart Radio’s summer events. Following this, Tinashe gave an interview about her long-awaited sophomore album. Speaking with The Guardian, Tinashe said it was tough for black singers not named Beyonce or Rihanna.

Both ladies have had the market cornered since their respective debuts in 2003 and 2005. With Jay Z being the common denominator, their continued success should come as no surprise. But, Tinashe saw her emergence come in 2014, with her buzz waning since then.

Tinashe, for the comments she made in her interview, has found herself on the wrong side of Black Twitter. The comments she made caused plenty of ire. Fans are dragging her on Twitter, but the question is if Tinashe is right about what she was saying?
