Longtime hip hop and music heads reminisce fondly about Tony! Toni! Toné! and their sound. They are among the first Oakland-area artists to emerge on the mainstream. Like many others, their sound helped to shape the game.
Tony! Toni! Toné! can be viewed among the predecessors of the music made popular by Ja Rule and Nelly in the early 2000s. Many believe their sound helped Drake and, eventually Bryson Tiller emerge. This style now owns hip hop.
Recently, Tony! Toni! Toné! spoke to Sway at Shade 45 for “Sway In The Morning.” They would talk about their new tour and explain why Raphael Saadiq isn’t involved in the tour. The group would also speak on Oakland, and much more.
