Too Short receives his own day and street named after him

Too $hort has enjoyed of the greatest honors in life, which is receiving praise and support from his hometown. In a day of celebration, Too $hort received both a day and a street named after him in the city of Oakland, California. The city of Oakland declared December 10th, 2022 as “Too $hort Day.” The Bay Area rapper also received a street named after him, called “Too $hort Way.” The street is a portion of Foothill Boulevard in Oakland, right outside of the high school Too $hort attended.

Too $hort has been a pioneer of West Coast hip-hop and rap since the early 1980’s. His 1987 album, Born To Mack, was a success, earning the attention of Jive Records. He then followed up with the 1988 album Life Is… Too Short, which went double platinum shortly after its release. Aside from producing his own music, he’s worked with Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and E-40.

With a long and impressive musical resume, Too $hort continues to make history. During the street reveal, celebrities like Ice Cube and Sway Calloway were in attendance. The mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf, presented Too $hort with a plaque commemorating this historical moment. In attendance, in support of $hort Dog was Ice Cube and Mistah F.A.B.
