Toronto Rapper, Top5, Who Was Recently Arrested in Los Angeles, After Being Charged With First-Degree Murder, and Who Was on The Run, Reportedly Wanted to Avenge Brother’s Death

Back in January, rising Toronto rapper, Top5, was reported to have shot and killed 20-year-old Hashim Hashi. At the time, he was arrested and charged for being an accessory to murder.

Top5 was hit with a first-degree murder charge in May, and that’s when his ankle bracelet was broken, and began to be on the run. Earlier this month though, he was found and arrested, in Los Angeles. This came after taunting Toronto’s John Tory, and wanting a sit-down meeting with him. Top5 even claimed that he was the one who actually runs Toronto.

Top5 was reportedly found in LA, due to being with someone who was already wanted, in a separate murder case. Top5’s song lyrics and social media posts were also supposedly factors that helped authorities track him down.

According to reports, there is now a motive, for Top5 committing the shooting, he was involved in. He is said to have wanted to get revenge for his brother, who was killed. It turns out that Hashi wasn’t the one who murdered his brother, though. Top5 is also reportedly part of the “Go Getem Gang,” in Toronto.

“Ali is a member of a violent Canadian street gang. Canada has charged him with the cold-blooded murder of Hashim Hashi,” stated a filing by the U.S. Attorney’s office in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. “Ali subsequently discussed killing people in retaliation for his brother’s death on public social media posts, including one less than three days before the murder.”
