Nearly six years ago, Trel Mack focused in on establishing himself among the hottest rising rappers, in the game. His rise coincided with the city of Philadelphia being thrust back into hip hop’s epicenter. Since then, several additional stars have emerged.

Trel Mack gained interest from Atlantic Records and Def Jam, to name a few, back in 2013. In the five years since, he has continued to maintain a presence, releasing more projects. Meanwhile, he signed fellow rapper, Shawn Archer, who has maintained a presence.

Recently, Trel Mack and Shawn Archer sat down with DJ Thoro, from ThisIs50.com to discuss their new work. Given DJ Thoro’s own history with Philadelphia, they had a lot to talk about, about the city. The conversation also centered around SKE Records, which remains an independent force.
