Last year, Hip Hop Vibe counted down some of the most hip hop-heavy television shows. Of course, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” was included. Not only was the show centered around the rapper, The Fresh Prince (aka Will Smith), it was produced by Samm-Art Williams, a fellow NC native. The show’s breakout star was Alfonso Ribeiro, Carlton.
Carlton made a big impression with “The Carlton Dance,” which he danced to Tom Jones’ single, “Unusual.” Needless to say, this move helped revive Tom Jones’ career and it made for TV gold. Alfonso Ribeiro, meanwhile, had a background in dancing, as it helped him break into television.
Alfonso Ribeiro was announced in this season’s cast of “Dancing With The Stars” and he did not disappoint. Among the other dances he did was “The Carlton Dance,” amusing the fans of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Tonight, he won the trophy and James Avery would be so proud, R.I.P. to the legend, as Twitter gives Alfonso Ribeiro praises.
