Tyga announces Nas’ Kings and Queens record label on MTV RapFix Live [VIDEO]

Early in his career, Nas launched his own label, Ill Will Records. Nas released most of his albums under Columbia Records, however. But, in 2000, Nas introduced the world to his roster of talent, presenting them as The Bravehearts. Their run occurred in the middle of Nas’ war of words with Jay-Z. After the feud with Jay-Z died down, Ill Will Records was never mentioned again.

By 2006, Nas and Jay-Z had become friends, with Jay-Z signing Nas to Def Jam, as he served as the president during this period of time. The deal was tough to pull off, as Columbia Records was not ready to let go of Nas. Eventually, a joint venture deal was created between Def Jam and their former distributor, Columbia Records. One of the terms of the deal granted a vanity label to Nas, The Jones Experience.

Again, after the release of Hip Hop is Dead, The Jones Experience was never mentioned again, as Nas career has gone through several twists and turns. Nas went from being the most-hated artist at Def Jam, over Nigger, to becoming a potential candidate to become president of the label. There were also rumors of Nas leaving Def Jam, altogether, to become a part of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label. Currently, Nas is working on his Life is Good album and has been working with many of the newer artists in the game.

Nas was recently featured on Tyga’s Careless World: Rise of the Last King on the track, “Kings and Queens.” Tyga recently talked about his relationship with Nas, which goes much deeper than their collaboration. Speaking with MTV RapFix Live, Tyga revealed the title of the track has inspired Nas to create another record label. A third record label, Kings and Queens, will soon be launched by Nas, according to Tyga.
