Uncle Luke and Jermaine Dupri are executive producers in upcoming ‘Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told’ documentary, coming to Hulu

Freaknik documentary to be released on Hulu

In the 1990s, Freaknik became one of the biggest HBCU events in the city of Atlanta. It was initially started in the mid-80s, as a small picnic for HBCU students out on spring break. By the time that the 90s arrived, it was a massive era in which HBCU students partied heavily, began friendships, and attended events such as concerts and more.

However, the Freaknik era did go on to be criticized for the way some acted, while on that spring break.  As a result, by the time 1998 came around, Freaknik began to be shut down, due to sexual assaults, violence against women, and other  public safety concerns

Meanwhile, a documentary is coming to Hulu, which will detail all of the excitement and other hot debates surrounding Freaknik. According to Variety, this documentary will be titled “Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told.” Uncle Luke and Jermaine Dupri are also among the executive producers of this film.

The description of this documentary is listed as: “recounting “the rise and fall of a small Atlanta HBCU picnic that exploded into an influential street party and spotlighted ATL as a major cultural stage,” raising the question: “Can the magic of Freaknik be brought back 40 years later?”
