The plot thickens as we gather more pieces of the puzzle. The Vice President of Minneapolis City Council, Andrea Jenkins, claims that George Floyd and Officer Derick Chauvin worked at a restaurant as coworkers for a very long time, during an interview with MSNBC.

“You know I think it’s really interesting that right across the street from where Alley is standing is a restaurant called El Nuevo Rodeo. George Floyd worked at that restaurant. So did Officer Chauvin.

They were both bouncers at that restaurants for seventeen years.”

“So Officer Chauvin? He knew George. They were coworkers for a very long time.”

If we can recall, the video showed officers walking George across the street to Chauvin rather than placing him in the cop car nearest to where he was apprehended in the viral video, which did seem strange. The ex-Minneapolis police officer Derick Chauvin has also received several documented complaints during his time as officer before his termination on Tuesday.

He was never prosecuted. He has been under a few investigations. He has also been placed on leave in the past along with other fellow officers after an altercation in 2011 that led to a Native American man being shot.

Senator Amy Klobuchar is now under heat as well, as reports share that she “declined to bring charges in more than a dozen cases in which people were killed in encounters with police” in Hennepin County. Instead she “aggressively prosecuted smaller offenses” that “have been criticized for their disproportionate effect on poor and minority communities,” according to The Washington Post.
