Usher jokes at Dreamville Fest about bringing Beyoncé out

On Saturday night, J. Cole’s annual Dreamville Fest returned to Raleigh, NC. This was day 1 of the festival, as headliners included Usher, Ari Lennox, Lil Durk, City Girls, and more.

However, during Usher’s set, he decided play a huge April Fools’ Day joke, on the fans in attendance. He explained how he was going to bring a special guest out. As a result, he revealed that that would be Beyonce. However, when Usher made that introduction, nobody showed up.

Therefore, after the awkward silence ensued, Usher went back to the microphone, and said “April Fools.” Following that comment, there was a loud groan from the crowd, in disappointment. Nonetheless, they were still able to see a legend in Usher, perform. He eventually took to Twitter to address the joke, as he also jokingly asked “It’s still April 1, right?”

Usher will also be performing at his new annual Lovers & Friends Festival in Las Vegas, on May 6. This will feature additional stars such as Mariah Carey, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera, Summer Walker, 50 Cent, Bryson Tiller, and more.
