Usher receives Icon Award from Apollo Theater
When it comes to iconic music superstars, Usher is a name that easily tops the list. With a career expanding nearly three decades, his influence is unlike anyone else. Recently the mega star was recognized by the historical Apollo Theater, receiving the Icon Award. The special moment took place at Apollo Theater’s annual Spring benefit. In addition to Usher being recognized, Babyface also received an award at the event.
Although Usher is a household name, he is still proving to the world how legendary he is. At the top of 2024, Usher gave a memorable halftime show at the Superbowl LVIII. He shortly followed up with his ninth studio album Coming Home, which included features from Summer Walker, 21 Savage, H.E.R and others . Usher also made another historic moment in 2022 when his Las Vegas Residency became a viral show. Selling out almost immediately, he will return to Las Vegas this year for his Usher: Past Present Future show.
Selling over $33 million albums in the U.S alone in addition to his countless awards and unforgettable stage presence, Usher is truly an icon. During this acceptance speech, he spoke about being “the youngest of the legends” and how important it is to make it at the Apollo.
