For two consecutive years, VH1 has decided to dive deeper into the media with their reality shows. An intriguing topic to many is that of hip hop media and 2013 saw them release “The Gossip Game.” The show followed radio personalities, bloggers, and magazine writers, as they navigated the tough hip hop industry.
Albeit, the show was interesting, but frequent time slot changes rendered the series helpless and eventually cancelled. Six episodes in, the series was over, but VH1 was far from done. Their revamped show saw VH1 tackling the inner-workings of radio with “This Is Hot 97,” following Hot 97’s crew.
Earlier this afternoon, Bossip reported VH1 is close to ending the series, as the summer approaching. They have sources close to the “This Is Hot 97” show that say the series failed to connect with the VH1 audience. This comes with criticisms about the frequent celebrity appearances and the scripted humor.
