Victor Wembanyama is the most promising NBA draft pick since LeBron James. He is tasked with returning the San Antonio Spurs to their former glory, which has been many years ago. During the 2000s and the 2010s, the Spurs were the NBA’s most dominant team. Despite the best laid plans, the Spurs fell into a rebuilding period. This led to Wemby being drafted and the hope is there. Yesterday, Wemby shared a photo of him with David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Sean Elliott.

Victor Wembanyama continues the tradition of big men playing for the San Antonio Spurs. First, it was the Admiral, David Robinson, that put the Spurs on the map. As great as he was, he failed to lead the Spurs to a championship. In fact, he went through two severe injuries that made him sit for the entire 1997 season. That led the Spurs freefalling to being the NBA’s worst team. As a result, they drafted Tim Duncan and he led the Spurs to a dynasty.

Victor Wembanyama was born during the Spurs’ dynasty years. As he became a fan of basketball, he only knew of the Spurs greats for being the legends that they are. To this day, guys like Sean Elliott, David Robinson, and Tim Duncan are a part of the franchise. In addition, Manu Ginobili also works within the organization. Recently, all of them sat down with Wemby to welcome him to the franchise. After the meeting, Victor shared a photo of them all on social media. His caption is “couldn’t ask for better role models.”
