Victoria Monét says she wasn’t invited to perform at MTV VMAs

In 2023, Victoria Monét really began to break out as a star. Her “On My Mama” single has been buzzing heavily, as it went on to appear on her long-awaited debut studio album, “Jaguar II,” in August.

Jaguar II contained 11 songs, including other leaf singles such as “Smoke” featuring Ludky Daye and “Party Girls” featuring Buju Banton. As a result, Jaguar II went on to see a number 60 debut in the US, on the Billboard 200 chart.

Meanwhile, many also expected Monét to possibly perform at the MTV VMAs, last night. However, that unfortunately wasn’t the case. Therefore, Monét is now speaking on this discussion. As a result, she revealed that her team was told that it’s “too early in her story” to perform at the VMAs just yet.

Prior to Jaguar II being released, many fans already knew about Monét, since 2014. That included her work with artists such as T.I., Kehlani, and more. Furthermore, Monét is also very respected as a songwriter in the industry. Therefore, many are confused as to how she is “too early” in her career to perform at the VMAs.

Monét’s Jaguar World Tour also kicks off on September 15, in Washington, D.C. The tour will run until November 15, where it concludes in London.
