Wale disses Drake and J. Cole? Wale says “being a dark skinned (not half-white) rapper direct descent from Africa” has hindered him from becoming a bigger star [PHOTO]

Back in 2011, Wale was one of the biggest breakout stars of the year. It was all so unlikely, but Wale carved out a niche, as he took over the lane that Fabolous once occupied. Even with the hits, Wale felt like he wasn’t living up to his potential.

Wale debuted, back in 2009, and was hyped as the next big thing, alongside Drake, J. Cole, and Nicki Minaj. But, Wale often vented on social media, leading to arguments with fans. When 2011 rolled around, all of that changed.

Slowly, Wale has reverted back to that form, as 2011-2012 is becoming a distant memory. Increasingly, Wale has had less commercial success, leading to Atlantic Records dropping him from their contract. Recently, a fan questioned Wale on why he feels he isn’t doing as well as he should be, and Wale blamed it on his skin tone.
