In only three short years, Wale has led an interesting career. The success he has enjoyed throughout the 2011-2012 period is perhaps the biggest story out of the entire Maybach Music. In the fall of 2010, Rick Ross revealed he had plans of expanding his roster. Rick Ross introduced the world to his roster of talent in 2009, before focusing on himself in 2010.

When Rick Ross said he might sign Wale, few expected him to actually pull the deal off. Until he was mentioned by Rick Ross, Wale had been forgotten by many. Leading up to the release of his 2009 debut album, Attention Deficit, there was much hype surrounding Wale. But, after disappointing sales, which Wale attributed to the lack of interest by his label, he floundered.

Wale quickly signed with Maybach Music and experienced a revival in his career, which led to a number of hits. Proving he could be a star, Wale began working on Ambition, his sophomore album, and had plans to releasing another album on the heels of it. Ambition was a critical success and has now met commercial success, as it was revealed the album has been certified gold by the RIAA.
