From 2011 through 2013, Wale established himself as one of the biggest artists in the game. Compared to Kanye West, at the time, Wale finally began receiving the props that matched his early hype. That span of time saw him on par with peers, Drake and Nicki Minaj.

However, Wale has seen his popularity slowly dwindle since then, scoring only one radio hit since 2013. As of late, that is beginning to change, as “On Chill” is becoming a radio darling. But, this comes as there are rumors of Wale retiring.

Wale is doing his media rounds for his new album, visiting Hot 97. He sat down with Ebro, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez to discuss his new work. The DC rapper discussed mental health, the deaths of rap peers, Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle, and also the top rappers lists circulating on social media.
